In the old mod, the railroad crossing went up and down instantly. So imagine if that happened in reality. Everyone who runs them would have smashed windows.
We can't have that, so in this addon, the gates now move smoothly, and can be in any direction you want, even if it doesn't align with the block grid or block directions! Also, gate length can be increased or decreased. Note, when increased/decreased, you'll need to adjust the "gate_offset" to make sure the scaled model part is attached to the gate connector, otherwise you'll have a floating gate arm, which doesn't look too good.
Gates do not have collision on the model parts, but do at the base where the block sits. This is a technical limitation which will never be possible to solve with the current technology being used.
Here is the GUI for gates:
Length changes the scale of the gate arm (the red and white part, and only towards the gate, or away from the gate). Offset moves the gate arm towards the gate or away from it. A good rule of thumb is to make the offset half the size of the scale of the gate arm. Rotation turns the entire assembly, base and all, in whatever rotation your want, from a scale of 0.0-1.0+. Higher float values become less accurate, so try to stay in the lower range of values to make choosing a rotation easier.
